The Making Of P90XMC2 Plyocide
This week production on the P90XMC2 (the “MC” stands for muscle confusion) videos began. P90XMC2, the sequel, to P90X will be released in late 2011 (my guess is around the Holidays). MC2 is the program for P90X graduates.
Yesterday they filmed the “Plyocide” DVD and released a tease of the move “Set, Plank, Plyo” / “I call it, you do it”. Wow, it looks intense. I can’t wait for this program to come out. I will be sure to share information about MC2 as it becomes available.
My P90X Challenge To Jonathan Beech
Ever since starting P90X on March 22, 2010 my good friend Jonathan Beech has made fun of me for it. He has mocked my enthusiasm for the program, laughed at my videos, and ridiculed my progress and results. He even made it a point to trash me weekly on our Fantasy Baseball league’s message board. Well the joke is on him, because all this time he laughed and mocked me, I got in better and better shape and healthier, while he just kept eating giant chocolate bars and sitting on his lazy butt.
Now, Mr. Beech wasn’t always out of shape. Just a couple of years ago he was quite “ripped”. However since then he has fallen off the wagon and outgrew quite a few pairs of jeans. Take a look at this photo of Jonathan. The left side show him as peak physical condition (taken a few years ago), and the right side shows the out-0f-shape miserable mess he is today.

Now, there is no doubt on my mind that Mr. Beech can get back to being the image on the left side again. He actually has tremendous will-power buried under his layers of fat, flab and butt sweat. The kid lost over 100lbs 6 years ago after ballooning up to 300 lbs, which is an amazing story itself. So, this brings me to my simple P90X Challenge for you Mr. Beech:
The Jonathan Beech P90X Challenge
1. Start P90X within the next 3 weeks
2. Workout every day (without missing a day) for 90 days giving it 100% effort (obviously you will struggle, but you will get results)
3. “Eat Clean” during the 90 days most of the time. Obviously you need to fuel your body properly to get results
4. You are not permitted to mock P90X or make fun of my P90X routine during the 90 days.
If he completes these 4 simple steps, I guarantee he will not only be in the best shape of his life, but also look and feel great and not be so miserable. If he is to complete this challenge, I will donate an undisclosed amount to a charity of his choice. However, if he FAILS, he will need to write a blog post on his blog, praising P90X and me.
So, Mr. Beech- what do you say? Are your ready to Bring It?
Insanity Pure Cardio Review
Tonight I did the Pure Cardio workout from the Insanity workout program. It’s an intense 38 minutes of exactly what it says, Pure Cardio. There are virtually no breaks the entire time and if you “dig deep” and push yourself, you will be a sweaty mess when you are done!
Here is a quick video review of the workout:
You start out with an intense 10 minute warm-up consisting of running, jumping jacks, heisman, 1-2-3 heisman, butt kicks, high knees, and mummy kicks (repeated 3 times). Then you have about 7 minutes of intense stretching, and then finally it’s time for the main workout!

The main workout consists of 15 moves (done for one minute each). Here is the list:
■Suicides
■Switch kicks
■Wide football sprints
■Stance Jacks
■Pedal
■Hooks and Jump rope
■Power jacks
■Level 2 drills
■Frog Jumps
■Power Knees
■Mountain Climbers
■Ski Down
■Scissor Runs
■Suicide Jumps
■Push up jacks
This is all followed by a cool-down, by which time you will be dripping in sweat. It really is an awesome workout!

Make sure to have your Recovery Drink when done…your body will need it!
P90X Yoga and Food Journal
Tonight I did a P90X Yoga session (yup, all 92 minutes!) and also shared my first food Journal session on Facebook. I think keeping a Food Journal is a fantastic way to make more responsible eating decisions, and I think I’m going to keep this up for a bit. As far as the Yoga goes, I still have a long way to go in terms of flexibility, but I always feel a lot better (physically and mentally) after completing Yoga X, and you can’t ask for much more than that with exercise.

P90X Yoga By Candlelight

Tonight for the first time since I started P90X almost a year ago (March 22, 2010), I did the Yoga in the dark by candlelight and turned off my cell phone. It was really nice not having any distractions in the air, and the darkness helped me relax and open up more. I was able to concentrate 100% on my posture and breathing techniques! I felt really loose and stretched out at the end of my session! It was a very relaxing way to end the weekend.
Since flexibility is the area of fitness I struggle with the most, I am always on the lookout for new tips and tricks to help performance in this area. If you know of any, please let me know.
Here is a quick post-workout video I recorded:
